Running Beyond the Finish Line
Running is more than a sport but also a lifestyle. Yet running compared to most ball sports is still heavily underreported. The 4 major sports are consistently being covered on top sports news outlets like ESPN, Bleacher Report and Sports Illustrated while running is left behind with many untold stories. It is important to give the same amount of coverage to running to allow a culture and fanbase to grow just like the 4 major sports in America. For these reasons I have made this website to share training ideas, benefits of running, how members of the media follow the sport and untold stories of the athletes competing at the highest levels through articles, photos and interviews.

About The Extra Mile
My Passion for Running
Starting running at 9 with the Northport Running Club and Coach Vicki and Pat gave me an early introduction to the many events in track and field. I really enjoyed it and made some friends while at it but I still was more focused on sports like baseball and basketball. This was until high school came around and my closest friend Brandon was going into cross country so I just figured I'd do it too. Quickly into the first cross country season I fell in love with the sport and continued to get better as the season went on. Running hasn't always been sunshine and rainbows though, sickness, injury and slumps have caused setbacks that make you think about why you do the sport and have brought me out as a more committed runner. The sport and team aspect has taught me a lot from being able to handle adversity to being managing expectations and goals. Running has challenged me in many ways and from these challenges it has made me a better individual.
